Subsea Valve 3D As-Built CAD

This project was performed on the hull of a Semi Submersible platform in approximately 60ft of water by ROV with a SubC Imaging HD ROV Camera.

Data Capture

A data capture procedure was created and sent to the vessel. The ROV crew and inspection team were then able to capture the required data without Dimensional Eye techincians onsite and at no additional cost to the inspection campaign (only video of the asset was required, this was being recorded during the inspection already). We requested that the ROV/Inspectors gathered the video in a slightly different way (one that allows for photogrammetry to work well). The video was then sent to the office for processing once the job was complete.

Project Scope

The initial scope of the job was to provide confirmation of the valve dimensions. We created a measurement of the valve and were able to confirm the dimensions of bolts on the structure as requested in the project scope.

Results

It was realised by the client during the analysis that a full 3D model of the valve and the surrounding equipment would be useful to carry out further analysis/design tasks. Thanks to the flexbility of I-Photogrammetry (Innovative Photogrammetry by Dimensional Eye) we were able to create the full model of the valve and its environment from the existing inspection video without a remobilization of the vessel and without having the ROV re-visit the site.
